At the beginning of April 2016 Peter Verdi's Magnetic Scrolls Chronicles website went offline. So far all my attempts to contact Peter failed. His site carried some invaluable interviews with former Magnetic Scrolls people. To preserve the work I temporarily uploaded a dump of his site taken in summer of 2015. All you can see below is 100% Peter's work! Hopefully his site will reappear soon! Peter, if you read this, can you contact me?

This is the "Files" section of "The Legacy". Here you will find all the hard facts about the game, like general information, a plot synopsis and trivia - in other words, these are "The Legacy Files".

Plot Summary

Looks like you've had a real stroke of good luck. Being the distant, last living relative of the Prentiss family, who mysteriously disappeared some time ago, does seem to have its advantages after all. Especially when you have just been told that you inherited a huge mansion, the stately Winthrop estate, near the New England town of Longport.

On second thought, however, this might not be such a stroke of good luck after all, since your newly inherited property turns out to be one of *those* gloomy, old New England manors that seem to have come straight out of an Edgar Allan Poe short story. Then again, one could always turn it into a thrill-ride for tourists or an exclusive hotel.

Admittedly you start to worry a bit when you find some blood stains and a hand-written warning in the entrance hall, talking about nasty things like "house of evil" and strange lights over the house that seem to be linked to mysterious disappearings happening every 50 years. The last few incidents happened in 1843, 1893 and 1943. Since it's 1993 now, it's up to you to do the math. Things get even worse when, as soon as you enter your new home, the front door slams shut behind you and all your desperate tries to re-open it are met with a ghostly, mocking laughter.

You decide that now seems like the perfect time to do a little exploration, looking for an alternative way to get out of the house. It doesn't take long until you run into such creatures like zombies, ghouls and all sorts of other hair-raisingly horrible demons. As you try to survive this dream turned into nightmare you start thinking that the whole affair definitely wasn't such a stroke of good luck, but no time for unhappy thoughts - sounds like one of those rotting zombies is creeping up from behind …
