How can I play the games?

Since Magnetic Scrolls disappeared in the early 90's, the games haven't been available for many years. To obtain an original copy you have to try your luck with classic games specialists like YOIS or online auctions like ebay. Most probably the easiest way to run the old games on modern machines and operating systems is using an interpreter or an emulator.

Niclas Karlsson has developed a portable interpreter for Magnetic Scrolls games - MAGNETIC. There are ports for various systems available. The newer versions of Magnetic even support the Magnetic Windows games and some of their special features like animated graphics and hints. Start your magic journey here:

If you wish to get a preview or just enjoy a quick play you can run the games immediately using JMagnetic 2 and Java Web Start here.

If you still own copies of the games you should take a look at the various emulators. The games work (almost) perfectly with:

Amiga UAE
Apple II AppleWin
Atari ST Saint, Steem, NoSTalgia
Atari 800/XL GEMmulator, Atari800WinPlus
C64 Vice, CSS64
Amstrad/Schneider CPC Caprice32
Macintosh vMac Mini, Basilisk II

Hints for running Magnetic Scrolls games on specific emulators:

CSS64
CSS64 requires the disk images of the games to have the correct disk IDs. The first two letters are the ID for disk 1, the remainig are for disk 2:
